Air Viking was formed by a group of private
investors in Iceland in early 1970, and for its
first summer season leased a single Vanguard
from Air Holdings Ltd.
Flights were performed for a local Icelandic
inclusive-tour operator, supplemented by
various ad-hoc charter work around Europe.
At the end of the year the Vanguard was
returned to Air Holdings Ltd. The airline itself
survived until financial difficulties forced it to
cease operations in March 1976.
